You are advised to seek independent advice before you sign this! You can then pay the upfront amount, and move in to your new home! Repayments: As this is sold as a “Rent To Buy”,also known as a “lease with an option to buy”, your upfront payment is considered the Option Fee. It is deducted from the price of the house, just like a deposit. You will pay normal weekly rent to lease the home, but also pay a weekly option fee to maintain the sole and legal right to purchase the house. The weekly repayment amount you make is similar to the amount you would pay to a non-bank lender, as if you were on a mortgage and part of this payment is credited towards the purchase price, just like a mortgage. Depending on your credit status, it can be actually cheaper then some non-bank lenders! And hey, if you can put down a higher deposit, we will happily reduce the weekly payment amount! We will arrange for the payments to be debited from your nominated account and put you in touch with an experienced and knowledgeable broker, who can help you plan over the next few years the best way to complete the purchase successfully. At the end of the contract period (or before), you will be ready to refinance and complete the transaction, transfer the title and gain ownership of the home.
