The luxury apartment renovated by Alisa & Lysandra during The Block Fans v Faves has been seized by police, believing it to be possible proceeds of crime – putting the twins’ prize money from the show in limbo. It was revealed that the winning bidder, who won the auction of 3/47 O’grady Street in Albert Park during the finale of the series, was NAB banker Lukas Kamay, who was arrested on Friday over an alleged $7million insider trading scam. While executing a search warrant of Kamay’s workplace in Melbourne’s Bourke Street, the lease agreement on the apartment renovated by Alisa & Lysandra was one of the possessions seized. It is thought that Kamay had already put down half a million dollars as a deposit. Kamay’s winning … Continue reading →
With the sound of the gavels still ringing in our ears from the finale of The Block Fans v Faves, Blockheads are already gearing up for the next series of The Block in 2014 – and one of the secrets of the show has already been leaked. Despite an embargo on the information, it’s already been widely reported that the ‘mystery couple’ about to become one of the competing teams is former AFL premiership player Darren Jolly and his wife Deanne. Channel 9 had heavily hinted that a ‘retired sports star’ would be taking part, and he seems to be an appropriately reno-loving choice, having studied building and construction at night school. With Darren having reluctantly retired in 2013, the Jollies were reportedly given the … Continue reading →
Tonight sees the auction of the four properties competing to win home renovation competition show The Block: Fans v Faves, the result of which will be televised tomorrow night. After months of work on the former Dux Theatre building, the four teams will be hoping to get the highest profit at auction in order to win this series. In the week that Lysandra of twin team Alisa and Lysandra (who bagged the winning renovation in last year’s The Block Sky High series) claimed that the producers had been bullying the contestants, and editing footage in a way that favoured ‘Fans’ team Kyal & Kara, it will be interesting to see if that translates into a win for the newcomers. If the twins do win a second series of … Continue reading →
The Block Fans V Faves has announced the Open For Inspection dates for the four potential winning properties in the series – and it’s this weekend. The event – which, judging by the open for inspection sessions from The Block Sky High, will have quite the party atmosphere – take place on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March between 10am-2pm. The opening of the properties at 47 O’Grady Street in Albert Park may well be attended by the Fans and Faves teams that renovated them, too. Have a look at the listings here. You can now have a look at the first listings to go online for the 47 O’Grady Street address. The Block’s new format for 2014, Fans vs. Faves, is already providing reality TV viewers with its fair helping of drama, as budding wannabe renovators have already fought to be featured as the ‘Fans’ element of the series. But with those couples now chosen, it looks like another vital aspect of the show is already beginning to be decided too – the real estate agents given the task of selling the properties in question. That’s because rumours are already abounding that Fans team from Melbourne, Chantelle & Steve, have picked Hocking Stuart Albert Park agent David Wood to sell their renovated property on the show. David is no stranger to The Block, having been in charge of selling Trixie & Johnno’s apartment in last year’s … Continue reading →
