Warren Anderson makes way for sale

1002hero.jpg

Troubled property tycoon, Warren Anderson, has vacated his historic Fernhill Estate in Sydney’s Mulgoa making way for its sale with vacant possession. "Buyers’ interest has been very strong, however Mr Anderson’s occupation caused difficulties with inspections," says Colliers International NSW Development Director of Residential, Guillaume Volz. Anderson was made bankrupt in June of this year, not long after the demise of his 42-year marriage to his wife Cheryl, and went on to disperse the homes contents of Regency antiques, paintings, and an impressive collection of taxidermy and raised $12 million. "Now he has left, parties can progress their interest in the knowledge that vacant possession is assured,” says Volz. Not new to the eviction process, the developer, whose wealth was estimated at $190 million by … Continue reading

Chili Peppers bassist sells in NSW

1001hero.jpg

The far NSW south coast hinterland retreat of Michael ‘Flea’ Balzary from the Red Hot Chili Peppers has been sold. But its $1.4 million sale price represented a significant loss on the $1.795 million paid in 2004. The beef cattle farm with four-bedroom homestead had been initially listed late 2010 with a $2.1 million asking price. Koorabel Park is a 218-hectare property located in the Mogendoura Valley, approximately 10 kilometres from the town of Moruya on the south coast. The property has a substantial homestead plus a studio and garden shed. Its outbuildings include two sheds, which were once part of the old Mogendoura Cheese factory. There are also cattle yards with full crush and also a very old slab barn. It comes with the … Continue reading

Packed to the Rafters star Rebecca Gibney and her husband, artist Richard Bell, are selling the Clareville home they bought in 2009, with the couple simply not having time to turn it into their dream home. The family, who recently sold in Tasmania, are intent instead on finding a contemporary house in the Pittwater precinct north of Sydney. “Due to increasingly busy schedules, we have decided not to renovate our home on the northern beaches,” Gibney has told the local press on listing the property through Andrew Blake from Andrew Blake Real Estate. The four-bedroom house on a 948-square-metre block has views of Pittwater towards Ku-ring-gai Chase national park and is within walking distance of the beach and shops. It cost $1.22 million in 2009. … Continue reading

The Renovators’ maxim

945hero.jpg

Buy someone else’s dream. That was the obvious maxim after the six well-renovated houses sold at mostly mediocre prices in the televised finale of The Renovators, the Channel Ten renovation reality series. Based on the costs of purchase and renovation just two of the six offerings – Blacktown and Glebe – did well. Another two – St Peters and Castle Hill – fell well short. The Blacktown fibro possibly won because the backyard pool was thrown in. The overall results weren’t pretty, with three selling at a loss after taking into consideration purchase price and stamp duty plus the declared renovation budget of an additional 20%. It’s not to suggest the Century 21 selling agents didn’t market the offerings well, given it was quite unusual … Continue reading

American actress, film producer, and former fashion model, Sharon Stone, is selling her gated, and secluded estate in Beverly Hills. Stone bought the property back in 2006, however it’s no stranger to the property market, with the star listing it unsuccessfully a handful of times since acquiring it, with the asking price decreasing every time, starting at $12 million, and ending these years later at just under $9 million. Stone also listed the property for rent in 2008 at $58 thousand a month. The 4.85 acre property includes garage parking for over 14 cars, numerous outdoor entertainment areas, resort style-swimming pool and spa, tennis court with viewing pavilion, and a meditation garden. The home features five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a state-of-the-art media room, gym, and … Continue reading
